Overstone produces fine wine from two vineyard sites on river gravel soils in Hawke’s Bay, each of which has slightly different climatic characteristics suited to different grape varieties and wine styles. The warm, free draining vineyards around the winery are planted on the gravel deposits of an old river valley and provide the Merlot based red wines. Further inland, on a dry river gravel terrace 100 metres higher in altitude, the cooler vineyard site produces Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc grapes.

Overstone Pinot Noir
Overstone Pinot Noir has concentrated black cherry and dark berry aromas which follow through to the palate where dark berryfruit and cherry flavours are supported by soft tannins. This is a ripe and deeply coloured food wine, designed for early drinking but capable of cellaring for 3-5 years.
Overstone Sauvignon Blanc
The Overstone Sauvignon Blanc Sauvignon Blanc has intense passionfruit and gooseberry fruit flavours with a vibrant, fresh finish and lovely balance. A perfect aperitif or seafood wine made for drinking young. Serve lightly chilled.
